HYDROVOLTAIC

Researched by S. Babb, 2015

ASPMC.2015.02

Habitat: Freshwater

Carnivore. Also feeds on electricity

Attributes: Skittish, delicate, playful

Endangered Status: Healthy and plentiful populations around the St Lawrence River and the Grand Coulee Hydropower project in Washington state.

Historically, this creature lived in rocky mountain rivers and streams, but has found living in and around hydroelectric plants preferable. The relationship between this creature and the operators who manage the plants has been mixed. When startled they have been known to produce an electrical discharge that has killed operators and burned down at least one hydropower plant (Nunns Hydroelectric Plant) before electrical wizards designed proper spells and equipment to allow these creatures to safely coexist with humans. This creature is most likely to be spotted at dawn and dusk. It also seems to enjoy playing practical jokes on long time staff members, especially when they are manning the hydropower plants alone at night.
